Dec. 4 Understanding how to calculate Fast Fourier Transform - some notes /

 - This is a very good LabVIEW program to measure Fourier transform of various input signals.

- A good applet to view FFT

Interesting Project Ideas:

  1. Playing music using matlab; generate different tones and display them on another computer. Design a filter to remove the noise. Examine the generated sound with and without the filter.
  2. Using the DAQ toolbox in Matlab.

Homework Assignments

HW1 - Don't forget the Cover Sheet - Print double-sided, if possible:

+Practice Problems 2.1-2.10 (in particular 2.1, 2.2.a, 2.6, 2.8(c-d), 2.10 (c-d)) /3rd Edition - do not submit!

+Submit this part: Redo all the plots shown in the Matlab graph tutorial page. Print all 7 plots as shown - for each plot you must have a Title and make sure your name is printed inside each plot. Place 4 plots per page using matlab functions

+ Submit this part: Generate a sinusoidal signal (tone) with period of 1 msec. You should e able to hear your signal. Compare the sound with when the period is 10msec. Which has higher pitch? Explain your findings.
