A- Guidelines for Research Project (Please read these very carefully)

All papers must be reviewed by THREE students. Their names/status along with suggestions and feedback must be submitted along with the final draft of the research paper. Each reviewer must also complete the Review Form. The author is responsible to find the reviewers. All reviewers must be approved by the instructor. At least one reviewer must complete the similarity check (http://www.dustball.com/cs/plagiarism.checker/). If your similarity score is the submission will automatically receive ZERO.

Grading the final draft The final draft of your research paper will be graded according to the following guidelines:

• General format (10 points): The format of the paper is entirely up to you. The paper can be written as a formal document or done as slides. If you plan to use Power Point, you must ensure that all slides are fully detailed. Your submission must be easy to read, free of any technical or writing errors, and have many figures for clarity. If you choose to copy a picture from another source, you must reference the source. Regardless of the format, you must have a formal abstract and summary.
• Abstract (15 points): You must have an abstract briefly describing the scope of your paper and what you are planning to discuss. The abstract must be between 200-300 words.
• Body (50 points): The body consists of at least three parts: problem statement (5 points), motivation (15 points), and solution (15 points). Having proper figures in the body is essential (15 points). In the problem statement section, you must clearly state the problem. Then, include a clear motivation describing why the topic is important to discuss. Why do you want the problem to be solved? Finally, you must present two or more solutions (technologies) to the problem. You should compare different solutions and make your own conclusions. Discuss pros and cons for each solution. Do not copy the materials from the Internet. Papers with lots of copy-and-paste from the Internet will receive zero and there will be no chance to make-up.
• References (10 points): All papers must have at least 8 relevant references: minimum of 2 books, 3 journal papers, and 3 online articles. The reference section must include the title of the article, author's name, publication, and the year it has been published. All web references must also have author's name and the year of publication. You are required to use books and journals for your research paper. Do not solely depend on non-credible online articles.
• Summary and future works (15 points): In this section you must provide a brief conclusion of what you discussed in the paper. This section must be no more that 300 words. Also, you must state how the paper can be improved and what other areas can be discussed in the future, should you or some one else decide to continue exploring this topic.

B- Guidelines for Project Presentation (Please read these very carefully).....Just imagine you have 15 minutes to show your prototype to a venture capital firm and you are asking for $10 million Dollars so you can launch your own startup company!

0- Please make sure you  register your project in the CORRECT folder! In the provided form, please make sure you pick the right class and your enteries are saved! (5 points - no partial credit)

1- The presentation is limited to 10-15 min. You are responsible for completing your presentation and the demo. Otherwise, you will not receive full credit. Please practice before you come to class!

2- Your project must operate properly during the demonstration time. No exceptions! Please come to class early and give yourself plenty of time to set up your project! Have a contingency plan, just in case! (e.g., bring a generator in case we lost power!). You must be ready when it is your time! (30 points - no partial credit)

3- You must present a PowerPoint presentation + demonstration of your project. In your presentation, the following items must be addressed (please note that you will not receive full credit if you fail to provide any of the items below): (45 points - no partial credit)

1. What was the main motivation for doing this project and what are the applications of this project?
2. What dose your project do (this is a high level description of your project). Include a high-level block diagram.
3. Describe the technical aspects of your project (calculations, waveforms, measurements, pseudo codes, etc.). Do not include the actual code! Include pictures and block diagrams where needed.
4. Explain  the limitations of your design (e.g., capacity, BW, noise, number of users, operating ranges, clock speed, delays, etc.)
5. Describe how this design can be enhanced in the future? What other features can be added to this project?
6. Add all the references you used! Avoid referring to materials you never actually used! For each reference you must add a brief description explaining how it helped you in your project. Include referred Sections in the reference. I will randomly, check these cites! You will be penalized if you fail to properly identify your references. It is okay if you only used one reference; just cite it properly!
7. Include plenty of backup slides in case you needed to refer to them during the Q&A section.
8. Backup presentation slides must have all the design details. The detail design must include all the challenging steps and initial steps required to replicate the project.

4- ALL slide presentations must be submitted on a CD. The following items must also be included in the CD. Please note that you will not receive full credit if you fail to provide any of these items on the CD. (20 points - no partial credit)

1. A (short) readme file identifying what is on the CD
2. A folder containing your presentation slides.
3. A folder containing all your codes and programs (including #include files, source files, scripts, etc.).
4. A folder containing all the programs, manuals, operating systems, and downloaded files you used for your project (only if applicable).
5. Please make sure you label the CD: Your name, Project Name, Course number, Semester, Year. 
6. Please make sure you submit your CD in a CD sleeve.
7. All CD folders must be compatible (readable) with Windows OS.
